Colleagues across campus are organising events to raise funds for Comic Relief on 15 March.

Red Nose Day

School of Materials Student Support Office: All-day activites for Comic Relief
Room C58, Sackville Street Building (10am–4pm)

  • Cake sale
  • Guess the dog’s name
  • Tombola
  • Guess how many jelly beans are in the pot

Hope as many people can join us as possible.

School of Arts, Languages and Cultures: Cake sale
Main entrance of Mansfield Cooper Building (10am-2pm)

All welcome.

Faculty of Life Sciences
Sue Craig's Bring and Buy Cake sale
Foyer of Michael Smith Building (9.30am onwards)

Sue, who is a Research Technican in FLS, holds this event regularly, but this year's will be her last before leaving. Cakes and customers welcome from 9.30am.

Faculty of Medical and Human Sciences
Graduate School Office: Lunchtime Fun
Simon Building, Room 3.44B (12 noon to 2pm)

The Faculty Graduate School Office invites you to join them on Red Nose Day for some lunchtime fun to raise cash for Comic Relief. Come and take part and help them do something funny for money! They’ll have:

  • Mary Berry-style bake off – for just a £1 entrance fee you could be crowned King or Queen of the Cakes and could win a lovely Red Nose Day prize. To enter, contact Dorothy Prato at dorothy.prato@manchester.ac.uk
  • Penny throwing contest – Win an Easter Egg or a Bottle of wine for just 50p!

Directorate of Estates and Facilities

The following activities will be taking place within the Directorate on Friday 15 March to help raise money for Comic Relief:

Drench the Directors
The Old Quadrangle (12.30-1.30pm)

Diana Hampson, Kenny Nolan and Steve Jordan will be ‘in the stocks’ for 1 hour, giving you the chance to throw a wet sponge at them, for just £1 a go! Don't miss out on the opportunity to Drench a Director!

Comic Relief Bake Sale
Room 3.001, Beyer Building (9am-3pm)

Homemade cakes and treats will be on sale all day, including a selection of vegan treats.

Fresh Donuts
Room 3.001, Beyer Building (10.30-11.30am)

Warm, sugar-coated mini donuts will be available for one hour only!

The Directorate Comic Relief Harlem Shake

The Directorate are also creating a ‘Harlem Shake’ video in which everyone involved has donated £5 to Comic Relief. The YouTube link will be provided soon!

There will also be prizes to be won!

Directorate of Human Resources

Staff have the option of dressing up/down for Comic Relief and making donations.

IT Services Admin Office: Fundraising Superheroes
Kilburn Building (all day)

The Admin Office team in Kilburn Building are dressing up as fundraising superheroes to collect money for Comic Relief.

They will be dressed up all day and will go round the offices in the ground floor of Kilburn Building to collect any donations.

Comic Relief Fast Net Netball tournament
Sugden Sports Centre (12-1pm)

Raise money for Comic Relief by taking part in the Wellbeing Week Fast Net Netball Tournament You need to register as an individual player then you can either team up with your friends or we will make up teams on the day. And guys, you're welcome to come along too – it isn’t just for the ladies. We ask that you donate a minimum of £2 to the charity which can be done through the Just Giving page – also feel free to forward the page to your friends and family.

Fastnet is an exciting, fast-paced variation of netball featuring shortened games and goals worth multiple points.

Rules will be explained on the day but if you want to get ahead of the game, here is a short video from England Netball explaining how it works:
