Police and crime commissioners hustings

31 Oct 2012

The public will have a chance to quiz Greater Manchester's five police and crime commissioner candidates at a public debate on Tuesday, 6 November.

The event organised by the Manchester Evening News and hosted by The University of Manchester’s politics department is ahead of the 15 November first ever poll.

Greater Manchester's new policing chief will become one of the most powerful local figureheads, with the power to set the police agenda and budget and hire and fire the Chief Constable.

Voters will be able to question the candidates at the University's Roscoe Building Lecture Theatre, between Oxford Road and Upper Brook Street. Doors will open at 6.30pm for a 7pm start. The hustings, chaired by the M.E.N's head of politics, David Ottewell, will last for up to one and a half hours.
