Windows 7 now available on PCs across campus

01 Oct 2012

IT Services are pleased to announce that Windows 7 has now been successfully deployed to many student PCs across campus, including all the publicly accessible clusters

Offering quicker login times for students and a refined suite of software amongst other benefits.

The locations of PCs operating with Windows 7 are shown at:

This page is student orientated and also appears within My Manchester, so students are kept informed of the facilities available.

The software portfolio of Teaching and Learning applications (available via the Windows 7 desktop) has been refreshed and updated  over the summer.  The PC Cluster software locator can be queried to ascertain what is available and where.  We would strongly advise you to check that any requested applications are available in the correct version and deployed to the required location(s).  Where time allows, a check of applications 2 weeks prior to commencement of teaching is ideal, to allow for the resolution of any identified issues.

If you are new to Windows 7, information on how to use some of the features along with answers to some common FAQs can be found at:

Should you wish to make any amendments to the teaching portfolio (adding/removing of available applications) then please refer to the information in the Knowledge Base article:
