Students' Union opens its doors to a bright new future

29 Jun 2012

The Students' Union has launched its refurbished building at an event attended by guests from the University, NUS and student groups.

Launch event for refurbished Students' Union

The Students' Union building, located at the heart of the campus, now boasts two state of the art radio studios and a hot desk facility for student societies, groups, media volunteers and course reps. The improved space offers students better opportunities to promote their events with TV advertising screens and a new foyer area.

An improved website will allow truly student-led content to be produced, with space for societies and groups to create their own micro sites and promote events to fellow students. It is the first Students' Union to go live with an NUS digital website, a platform set to revolutionise online communication with students.

A brand new cafe and shop will serve home-made cakes and locally sourced food, including kosher, halal and vegan options.

General Secretary Letty Newton led a toast to the new improvements in which she thanked previous years' Exec Teams for championing change and noted the good relationships which have been fostered with the University.

Members of staff are welcome to go along and see the improvements: the Students' Union building is open from 8am to 6pm during the vacation and from 8am to 10pm during term-time.
