Business Training for Life Scientists

Careers and future prospects for the biotechnology industry.

Wednesday 2 May 2012
Dalton Room, Core Technology Facility

Spend a day future-proofing your career.

Hear from people working in biotechnology start-up companies how they got there and what it’s like. If you’ve an idea of your own, you’ll value the opportunity to hear from Paul Banford (patent lawyer), Mark Rahn (technology investment specialist) and University of Manchester Intellectual Property experts.

Plus hear about the Biotechnology Young Enterprise Scheme, a BBSRC-funded competition which gives postdocs and PhD students a unique opportunity to gain an insight into biotechnology. At this workshop you’ll have the chance to sign up to take part in the scheme and receive help forming a team.

The afternoon offers a chance to really experience what it means to run a biotechnology business in a business planning game. The team with the best presentation will win all expenses paid places on the NorthWest Enterprise School (worth £700 per person!), taking place in the Lake District during July 2012.
