Help with student research projects

Free cloud computing facilities are on offer to help three final year Undergraduate and Master’s students run their research projects.

Janet Brokerage, the UK's only independent broker for academic cloud services and Eduserv, the not-for-profit IT services organisation, are looking for research projects that show the potential of cloud computing.

From January 2012 to January 2013, winners will have use of Eduserv’s Education Cloud. They will benefit from a package that includes a VMware vCloud Virtual data centre with underlying infrastructure of Cisco UCS for compute and Isilon for storage. It will support up to 18 virtual machines (estimated). This runs on physical hardware of up to 8GHz and 12GB RAM, with access to 100GB storage and with one public IP address. We’ll even provide direct connection to the JANET network, with no additional transit fees.
