Countdown to the 2012 Olympics begins with Triathlon Live, Manchester

25 Jul 2011

Watch triathletes in action and have a go at completing your own mini triathlon in Exchange Square.

On Saturday 6 August you can watch triathletes in action: 14 teams will take part, each with three athletes. The race will take five minutes to complete, with one athlete swimming, one running and one cycling. The winner of the competition will be the team that covers the furthest distance on the bike and run. At the same time, the Big Screen will show the BBC coverage of the Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU World Championship Series in London - you'll be able to watch the world’s fastest triathletes compete on the London 2012 course in Hyde Park.

If all this has inspired you to have a go, then book yourself in for Sunday 7 August for a genuine experience of competing in all three disciplines: you will swim, cycle and run. The winner will be the person (male or female) who covers the furthest distance on the bike and run.

You must be over 18 to take part and you will need a swimming kit, trainers, t-shirts, shorts - and, of course, a towel!
