The Nuffield Foundation Science Bursary

13 Apr 2011

Researchers required to host work experience

The Nuffield Foundation is looking for University researchers who might be interested in hosting a sixth form work experience student during the summer.

The Nuffield Foundation Science Bursary scheme offers sixth form science students throughout the UK a chance to work alongside practising scientists in science, technology, engineering and maths based projects.

Unlike work experience schemes, students carry out a piece of research that will make a contribution to the work of the host organisation.  Whether this is a piece of pilot research, or part of an ongoing project, project hosts benefit from the fresh ideas and enthusiastic support that students bring, as well as from the links that are generated with local schools and teachers.

Projects last four to six weeks and students complete them during their summer holiday.

This year, the Nuffield Foundation is offering around 1,000 bursaries for students keen to experience real research.

If you think you can host a student, or would like further information, contact Sarah Botting at The Nuffield Foundation on 020 7681 9626 who will put you in touch with your local co-ordinator.
