Sherman Lectures 2011

Four events taking place during May

The Centre for Jewish Studies would like to invite you to the Sherman Lectures, which this year feature Professor Martin Goodman, from The University of Oxford.

All of the sessions begin at 5.15pm on the following dates:

  • Monday 16 May: ‘The Study of Toleration within Judaism’ – followed by kosher reception
  • Tuesday 17 May: ‘Toleration in late Second Temple Judaism: Sadducees, Pharisees and others’
  • Wednesday 18 May: ‘The Houses of Hillel and Shammai in rabbinic tradition’ 
  • Thursday 19 May: ‘Reasons for toleration within Judaism (from antiquity to now)’

All are welcome to attend and the events are free of charge – just turn up, no tickets or pre-booking is required.
