Martin’s marathon race for cancer charity

11 Apr 2011

Professor Martin Humphries, Vice-President and Dean of the Faculty of Life Sciences, will be taking part in the London Marathon on Sunday, April 17.

Professor Martin Humphries will be running the London Marathon on April 17.

In what will be his first marathon, Martin will be running to raise money for the Institute of Cancer Research (ICR), a charity that supports research into the causes and treatment of cancer.

Martin said: “I have debated running a marathon for some time, and finally decided it was now or never. I have been awarded one of the ICR’s charity places and am hoping to raise a significant amount of money for the institute.

“The ICR is a superb organisation, conducting agenda-setting cancer research, so the money I raise will go directly into supporting the highest quality, fundamental research and will therefore be very well used.”
