Oxfam appeals for unwanted text books

05 Oct 2010

Science and medicine books in particular demand

Oxfam is appealing for staff or students to donate their unwanted text books – as long as they are less than four years old.

As it is the start of the new academic year, demand for second hand textbooks is high, with science and medicine books being particularly popular.

Donors who are tax payers can sign up to Oxfam’s Gift Aid scheme, which enables Oxfam to claim back 28% of the sale price of a donation from the government.

If you have any books you’d like to donate, then drop them off at Oxfam next to Whitworth Park. If you have a lot of books to donate and you’re not able to get them all to Oxfam, then it may be possible for someone to collect your donations.
