Student safety messages around gas works

13 Sep 2010

Make students aware of need for care on Oxford Road

With disruption continuing due to gas mains replacement work around Oxford Road, the University is keen to get some key information and safety messages out to students.

The work is likely to have an impact on students moving around what is always a busy part of the campus at the start of term.

Members of staff are being asked for their help in disseminating key messages wherever possible – particularly to those students who are new to Manchester.

Key messages

  • Please stick to the path and do not walk in the road.
  • Cross the road with care using pedestrian crossings.
  • Avoid cycling on the pavements.
  • Temporary bus stops are in use and their location may change as work progresses.
  • The work – due to essential gas main replacement - is expected to continue into November.

Concerns can be reported to:

  • University’s Estates Helpdesk on 0161 275 2424
