Bugs

Get as close as you dare to some live insects, insects from our collection and some carnivorous plants. Meet our conservators and find out how we stop insects eating our stuffed animals; make a bug home; do some pond dipping and much more.

11am-4pm: Live insects and spiders
Get up close to some live stick insects, cockroaches, beetles, British freshwater insects, tarantulas and scorpions.
Drop-in, free, all ages

11am-4pm: Art and craft and hands-on activities
Make a bug hotel, dragonflies, stick insects, butterflies and insect wood prints. Handle and look at insects and insect models from our collection, watch our hungry carnivorous plants and Dave’s garden safari and go pond dipping.

11am-4pm: Meet a conservator
Meet one of our conservators and find out how they stop insects from eating our stuffed animals.
Drop-in, free, all ages

12pm: Family Friendly Film screening
Short animated films about bugs for all the family.
Book on the day, free, under 7s and their families/carers

2.30pm: Bug storytelling
Book on the day, free, under 5s and their families/carers
