Legal Advice Centre Re-opens

21 Sep 2009

Free legal advice for staff by appointment

The University of Manchester Legal Advice Centre has now re-opened and is currently taking requests for advice.

Appointments will be available from Monday 28 September through to Friday 27 November, normally across the lunchtime period.   The LAC is open from 10am – 4.30pm weekdays.

At the discretion of the Centre Solicitor, the LAC offers free legal advice to members of staff, students and the public, on a wide range of matters in the strictest confidence.

Advice is provided by student volunteers from the School of Law under the supervision of qualified legal practitioners and teaching staff.  It should be noted that as the lawyers are not based at the Legal Advice Centre, and are also volunteers, an appointments only service is offered.

The advice is provided in the form of a letter, following an initial interview, and the time taken between interview and receipt of the letter will vary, depending on the complexity of the issue, but a two-week period is aimed for.

If for any reason the LAC is unable to provide advice, they will endeavour to direct you to an alternative source.  Please note that they are unable to provide advice on any matter which relates to the University.

You can contact the LAC in any of the following ways:
