Dignity at Work and Study

17 Sep 2009

New policy and procedures will be launched in November

University staff

The University is launching the Dignity at Work and Study Policy and procedures in November, which will replace the Harassment, Discrimination and Bullying Policy and guidance for staff and students. The Policy and procedures will be rolled out through various briefings, communications and training events.

The policy and procedures set out the role that all members of the University are expected to play and also, the steps that should be taken if you believe you are being bullied or harassed.

To support the implementation of the new policy, we are recruiting a voluntary network of Harassment Advisors and Mediators.

  • Harassment Advisors will be a first point of contact for staff and students who have concerns about bullying or harassment. A one year commitment to giving an average of 1-2 hours a month to the role in addition to attending the training provided and three network meetings per year.
  • Mediators will help both parties involved in a dispute to develop options, make recommendations and reach an agreed resolution. A commitment of on average 2-3 hours per month is required for the role as well as attending a four day accredited training course.

More information on becoming an Advisor or Mediator is available at the website below. There will also be a series of information sessions taking place on 29 and 30 September 2009.
