Staff fitness!

10 Sep 2009

SPORT programmes and activities for the 2009/10 session

Free swim on 7 October

If you think sport, health and fitness is just for students, then think again. In 2009/10 we have more programmes and activities for staff than ever before!

Keeping fit!

If you are interested in keeping fit and healthy then we have an extensive health, fitness and wellbeing programme along with great gym facilities across the University campus. With modern, air-conditioned fitness suites, dance classes, boot camp and holistic therapies along with campus walks and jogs we have something for everyone so there's no excuse not to join in.

Take a look now at our wide range of fitness classes and courses by downloading the FITNESS Manchester programme.

Swim for free

On Wednesday 7 October, SPORT are offering staff the chance to swim for free so you can check out our great facility for yourself.

The Manchester Aquatics Centre is a state of the art swimming facility with two 50 meter pools and a separate pool which offers women only swimming sessions. It is located on Oxford Road.

Team sport and coaching courses

If you fancy something a bit different to the gym or exercise class then why not take up a new sport? Campus Sport runs badminton and squash beginners and “next step” coaching courses at the Sugden Sports Centre from October 2009 in 8-week courses.

We also have a staff netball team who play regularly in the Campus Sport and ‘back to netball’ leagues. Training is open to everyone so you don’t have to be a member of the team to just come down and get some exercise.

The ‘back to netball’ league has been developed specifically for those who are returning to netball after a break, players with low confidence and those new to the game.

Fancy volunteering in your community?

If you would like to share your experience and knowledge both on and off the pitch then why not join the Sports Volunteer Scheme. It is open to staff and students and is a great way to give something back to the community, improve your skills and gain new ones.
