Planck spacecraft to launch on 14 May
On 14 May the Planck spacecraft will be launched from French Guiana on a mission to study the fading glow of the Big Bang.
Scientists and engineers at Jodrell Bank designed and built radio receivers at the heart of one of the major instruments on board Planck. These are the most sensitive receivers ever built to work at these radio wavelengths.
There will be a launch party in the Niels Bohr Common Room (Schuster Laboratory) at 1.45pm on Thursday 14 May. The launch marks an exciting milestone in The University of Manchester's 14-year long involvement with Planck but the story is only just beginning.
