04 Nov 2008

Praise for first issue of Centre for New Writing's online journal.

The Manchester Review, the Centre for New Writing's online journal showcasing new work by world-leading and emerging writers and artists, has received a wealth of acknowledgement and praise since it went live on 1 October. Its launch made headlines around the UK and in Ireland, including:

The current issue includes our world-exclusive preview of John Banville's forthcoming novel 'The Sinking City', as well as new work by writers including Ali Smith, Paul Muldoon, M.J. Hyland, Bill Manhire, Neil Rollinson, Vona Groarke, Matt Welton, Chris Killen and Josh Bell. The Review also features a regularly updated, agenda-setting reviews section: visit the review blog for new reviews of Antigone at the Royal Exchange, the film Quiet Chaos, Dangerous Driving by Chris Woods, Tell-tale Signs by Bob Dylan and a lot more.

We are now accepting submissions of new and unpublished fiction, poetry, essays, memoir, music, video or visual art for issue two, which will go live in March 2009. Submissions should initially be made in hard copy only, to:
