Volunteers wanted for development of behavioural empathy task.

10 Apr 2008

Must be fluent in English and have no recent history of psychiatric illness.

Are you easily affected by the strong emotions of people around you? Do you find it hard to see things from other people's point of view?

We have developed a task that measures how empathetic you are. This study will test your performance on this simple computer task and determine whether your performance is related to answers you give on personality questionnaires. This will help us gain a better understanding of the personality trait empathy.

We are looking for male and female participants whose English is fluent and have not been treated for any psychiatric illness such as depression, anxiety or others within the last year. The study involves completing two computer tasks and several questionnaires which will take around 90 minutes to complete. Upon completing the study, you will be compensated £5 for your time.

If you are interested in taking part in this study, please send an e-mail to:

This project has been approved by The University of Manchester Ethics Committee, Ref: 07299.

Thank you for your time.
