Manchester Alumni Loyalty Discount: supporting progression to postgraduate study

The Manchester Alumni Loyalty Discount offers a 10% tuition fee reduction for eligible graduates progressing to a taught postgraduate programme at the University.
Who it applies to
The discount is available to University of Manchester (and Manchester Met) graduates and final-year undergraduate students progressing to eligible taught postgraduate programmes starting between September 2026 and August 2027.
It applies to most taught postgraduate courses (including PGCert, PGDip and some online/distance learning provision), with some exclusions such as PGCE, research master’s programmes (e.g. MRes/MPhil), and certain jointly delivered courses.
How the discount works
- The discount is applied automatically once eligibility is confirmed—no separate application is required for Manchester graduates.
- It reduces the tuition fee payable (no cash alternative is offered).
- It is applied at the start of each year of study, including multi-year programmes.
- Students can still access other funding (e.g. loans, bursaries or scholarships), with the discount applied first.
What colleagues need to know
- No programme-level action is required to apply the discount.
- The scheme applies only to new postgraduate entrants from September 2026 onwards.
- Eligibility is verified through the admissions process.

- Promote the opportunity to final-year undergraduates considering postgraduate study.
- Signpost early to funding information alongside course discussions.
- Clarify expectations—the discount reduces fees but does not cover full costs, so students may need additional funding.
