Travel Plan 2025-2030: Reminder about increases to car park pricing
30 Apr 2025
Changes to car parking charges will take effect from 30 May
In February 2025, further details were provided regarding the University’s new Travel Plan for 2025-2030, which aims to encourage more sustainable transportation options for our community while also ensuring fairness and affordability.
As part of this update, changes to the car park charging policy will take effect from 30 May 2025, along with the introduction of a new Electric Vehicle (EV) charging tariff.
These revised charges reflect the University's commitment to reducing our carbon emissions by discouraging the use of traditional fuel vehicles and encouraging a shift towards more sustainable alternatives, including cycling, walking, wheeling, and public transport.

As with the increased car park charges, any surplus gained will be reinvested and ringfenced to fund additional charging points and sustainable initiatives.
A new salary sacrifice scheme for electric vehicles has also been established and is now live on our staff benefits platform, Purple Place. This scheme will be subject to an affordability assessment. We will be phasing out discounted parking for electric vehicle drivers over the next three years. No new discounts will be given to electric car drivers from 30th May.
