Introduction to 3-D virtual world and tour of its cultural highlights.
Second Life Workshop
Second Life is a 3-D virtual world built and owned entirely by its millions of residents. Since opening to the public in 2003, it's an environment where property is bought and sold, businesses are set up and events from exhibitions through to gigs and parties take place. Led by Second Life experts Gediminas Morkys and Juan Hiriart of University of Salford these workshops will guide you through the basics and the etiquette of Second Life.
- Thursday 22 November 2007, 2.30pm-4.30pm
No specialist Second Life skills are required. FREE, just turn up.
Six computer terminals are available but you can also bring your own Wi-Fi enabled laptop, connecting to:
- TeleGeneration (the Gallery's wireless provider)
Second Life Cultural Tour
Increasingly Second Life is becoming an important venue for cultural events. Led by Mathias Fuchs of University of Salford, this tour takes you through some of the cultural highlights of Second Life and looks at the possibilities (and limitations) of culture and creativity there.
