Martin Harris Centre for Music and Drama - The New Season!!!

We are thrilled to welcome you to the 2007 Autumn season at the Martin Harris Centre for Music and Drama in The University of Manchester.

Highlights include:

  • The return of the BBC Philharmonic and Chief Conductor Gianandrea Noseda with their popular chamber concert series;
  • The University's very own internationally renowned string quartet, the Quatuor Danel, introduce a programme that promises to delight and challenge;
  • The Walter Carroll Lunchtime Concert Series showcases numerous talent, including a Peter Maxwell Davies world première, and admission is still free;
  • Literature Live, organised by the University's newly-established Centre for New Writing, bring the best-known contemporary novelists and poets to Manchester to discuss and read from their work;
  • Expect The University of Manchester Chorus and Symphony Orchestra to give its all in Carl Orff's Carmina Burana;
  • The John Thaw Studio Theatre plays host to The Muslim Young Women's Drama Project;
  • The University of Manchester Music Society provide as diverse a programme as ever, from Sinfonietta to Big Band, Baroque Orchestra to KAIROS, there is something to suit any taste;
  • Psappha perform a variety of compositions written to mark 150 years since Elgar's birth, in our Beat the Rush Hour Concert Series and November sees the Official launch of the Martin Harris Centre's new electroacoustic studio building, hosting NOVARS: Research Centre for Electroacoustic Composition, Performance and Sound Arts.
