Hundreds of students attend annual Go Abroad Fair

The Go Abroad fair highlights international opportunities available to our students

Go Abroad Fair

Hundreds of students attended the annual Go Abroad Fair on 25 October to explore opportunities for international mobility, through exchange programmes, summer schools, international volunteering and more.

The International Programmes Office (soon to be the Placements and International Programmes team) were joined by a wealth of students from our partner universities across Europe, Asia, North America, and Australasia, as well as representatives from the University of Liège and the CLIC summer school in Seville. Along with Manchester students who had recently returned from studying abroad, they helped at our regional stands and advised visitors on all aspects of studying abroad.

Students were able to hear directly from their peers about living and studying in another country – all of whom were overwhelmingly positive and enthusiastic about sharing their experiences of ‘going abroad’. Many of these stories and tips are frequently shared on the Manchester On The Road blog, authored by our students studying across the globe.

The fair also had attendance from the Careers Service, Volunteering, Funding, the Confucius Institute and the International Society. The valuable contributions of these colleagues painted a broader picture of what going abroad with the University can look like, alongside signposting students to ways of forming international connections here in Manchester.

The International Programmes Office co-ordinates international placements for undergraduate students, including the International Exchange Programme and the Summer School Programme, and provides support for students undertaking an international experience. These activities constitute part of our University’s commitment to embed an international experience for students, develop international learning and awareness, and create a generation of global change makers.
