Earlier this year we published our Social responsibility and civic engagement plan. Over the coming months we will be running a series of open sessions where you will be able to gain a greater understanding of social responsibility and civic engagement at the University; hear how our social responsibility and civic engagement strategy results in real actions and impact; and see how we are making a difference regionally, nationally and internationally.

Starting with an ‘Introduction to Social Responsibility and Civic Engagement’ session on Tuesday 6 December, we will then run five further sessions, with each one focused on one of our strategic priorities.

Sessions will cover:

Introduction to Social Responsibility and Civic Engagement: general overview by the Vice-President for Social Responsibility, Vice-President for Regional Innovation and Civic Engagement and the Director of Social Responsibility (confirmed 6 December)

  • Social Responsibility and Civic Engagement: Better Health (January)
  • Social Responsibility and Civic Engagement: Environmental sustainability (April)
  • Social Responsibility and Civic Engagement: Social inclusion (June)
  • Social Responsibility and Civic Engagement: Cultural engagement (July)
  • Social Responsibility and Civic Engagement: Prosperous communities (September)

Participants can attend as many or as few sessions as they wish.

Who should attend?

These sessions are aimed at all staff and students who are interested in how our University is making a positive difference to society and the environment through our Social Responsibility and Civic Engagement Plan. The content will be useful to anyone who wishes to find out more about the impact of our social responsibility activities, key people behind its delivery and our plans for the future.

Chaired by senior leaders, the sessions will be delivered by managers and beneficiaries of our programmes to provide real-life examples of our impact. There will be time for Q&As and feedback.

Each session will last approximately 45 minutes.
