Important: Water outage on campus (resolved)

17 Nov 2022

Following reports of a burst mains water pipe near Mancunian Way, we have received reports that several of our campus locations have been left with no water

Update (16 November, 17:00)

United Utilities have now confirmed that the incident has been isolated and water has been restored to the affected areas.

Update (17 November, 09:20)

Following yesterday’s burst water main on the Mancunian Way, most buildings now have full water tanks/pressure at tanks.

Unfortunately, Arthur Lewis Building and Humanities Bridgeford Street have issues with air locks supplying the toilets.  Estates and Facilities are working to fix this situation and will put signage up to direct people to other buildings. Further updates will be provided as soon as possible.

Update (17 November, 10:40)

Estates and Facilities colleagues have confirmed that the water has now been restored to the Arthur Lewis Building. Further updates will be provided as soon as possible in relation to the remaining issues in Humanities Bridgeford Street.

Update (17 November, 15:30)

  • All buildings now have water supply.
  • UU have made the repair and are continuing to flush the system, this is expected to be completed by 8pm then pressurisation will be undertaken. Once completed there may still be initial issues with water pressure.
  • No further additional actions required by Estates and Facilities to be undertaken overnight.
  • Incident resolved.
