Reclaim the Night: save the date

10 Nov 2022

Get involved in the SU's campaign to end gender-based violence

The University of Manchester Students’ Union annual Reclaim the Night march is on 30 November.

The SU's mission is to be the voice of students at Manchester, effecting change and enriching student life together. Reclaim the Night is the SU’s flagship campaign to end gender-based violence. This year, the aim of the campaign is to empower students to recognise sexual misconduct and report it, while improving the provision of support and fostering a speak-up culture at our University. The SU will be raising funds for charities Manchester Rape Crisis and Galop.

In the lead-up to the march the SU will be hosting a number of workshops for students, including a ‘Know Your Rights’ training led by legal organisation Green & Black Cross and safeguarding training from Manchester Rape Crisis.

The campaign has had huge success already, with Manchester’s night-time economy tsar Sacha Lorde committing £10,000 to the campaign. The SU is also partnering with Warehouse Project to host a ‘Reclaim the Nightlife’ charity club night in Academy 2.

Everyone is invited - please do come along and show your support. Families & children are more than welcome. We have a special bloc for families to march together, as well as wristbands for children and trained stewards.
