Voting has ended and the results are in

Waving Goodbye by Ella White

The winners of our first Sustainability Challenge Photography Competition have been announced as part of the Making a Difference Awards.

A shortlist of six photos went to a vote through Instagram and Facebook, and within a week, over 3,800 votes were collected. The competition has engaged thousands of people with the sustainability issues highlighted by the student entries.

Prize winners

  • 1st Place – ‘Waving Goodbye’ by Ella White, School of Environment, Education and Development (shown above)
  • 2nd Place – ‘The First Journey’ by Emily Buchan from the School of Environment, Education and Development
  • 3rd Place – ‘The Disappearance of Blue Ice Cave’ by Yu Yan from the School of Environment, Education and Development

As well as receiving cash prizes, finalists will be matched with a donation to a sustainability charity of their choice. The competition promotes the Sustainability Challenge, an interactive online activity where our students learn to think critically about sustainability in a real-world context.

Thank you again to everyone who voted and if you want to see the photos up close, don’t miss the display of our longlisted photos at the Students’ Union, Exhibition Space 2, from Monday, 16 to Friday, 20 May.
