Hybrid recruitment process

24 Nov 2021

Inclusivity and fairness for hybrid interviews

During the pandemic many recruitment processes moved online.  We recognise that continuing with online interviews, especially when recruiting individuals who will work remotely, can be beneficial for both candidates and hiring managers.  However, in order to ensure that remote recruitment is undertaken with inclusivity and fairness in mind, the following should be adhered to in all remote recruitment processes:

  • Interviews may not be recorded;
  • Hybrid panels (where some panel members are attending in-person and some virtually) are acceptable, but every panel member must be present for every interview, otherwise the interview will be rescheduled;
  • Where the panel is hybrid, any panel members joining remotely must be able to contribute equally to the interview process, and must undertake the interview in a private location which ensures privacy for the candidate;
  • All panels whether hybrid or in-person should be diverse;
  • Where necessary, reasonable adjustments will be made to enable candidates with disabilities to perform at their best in an online interview.  This may include circumstances in which an online interview is not suitable and an alternative will be offered.
