From Human Resources to People and Organisational Development

01 Nov 2021

A message from Adèle MacKinlay, Director of People and Organisational Development

Adele MacKinlay

Dear colleagues

Today (Monday, 1 November) marks a significant step as the Directorate of Human Resources changes its name to People and Organisational Development.

Our name change reflects the fact that Our People Our Values is at the very heart of our University’s strategic plan – Our future. That by working collectively towards our shared goals, we will achieve great things together.

I have written a Viewpoint blog which outlines our Directorate’s collective ambition as we work together over the coming months to create a new People and OD strategy for our University.  More details on how you can get involved in this to follow.

Whilst the Directorate name has changed today, some teams within it will continue to use the term Human Resources for the next few weeks.  It is our ambition however to have renamed all parts of the Directorate and some job titles by the end of 2021.

So for the time being please continue to use the email addresses and telephone numbers you’d usually use to contact colleagues in the Directorate.

Our Directorate site on StaffNet has a new link which is https://www.staffnet.manchester.ac.uk/people-and-od/ and a range of University systems are being updated to feature the Directorate’s new name.  Signage on campus will also be updated over the coming weeks.

If you have any questions or would like to give any feedback please contact people-od@manchester.ac.uk

Thank you for taking the time to read this message and my Viewpoint blog – I’m looking forward to working with you all.

Best wishes

Adèle MacKinlay

Director of People and Organisational Development
