Could you be Volunteer of the Year?

16 Apr 2007

Nominations invited for new awards scheme by 11 May

Have you volunteered in the last year and been proud of what you've achieved?  Do you have a colleague at the University whose volunteering efforts deserve special recognition? Would you like some funding for the organisation where you volunteer?

If so, then nominate yourself or a colleague for the "Staff Volunteer of the Year", part of new awards scheme being launched by the University to recognise and celebrate the valuable volunteer activity undertaken by its members.

There are three categories, staff, students and alumni. In each category the first prize is £500, second prize is £300 and third prize is £200. The cheques will be made payable to the organisation where the winners undertake their volunteering and come courtesy of the Awards official sponsor, BP.

The deadline for nominations is 11 May, with winners to be announced at an Awards Ceremony on 7 June. To qualify, the volunteering activity must address the needs of disadvantaged or deprived individuals or communities.
