2021-2022 pay offer

13 May 2021

Universities offer pay increase effective from August 2021

The Universities and Colleges Employers Association (UCEA) has written to trade unions regarding the final offer for the 2021-22 pay round, following the conclusion of the latest round of negotiation meetings.

Pay is a significant part of the overall package of benefits offered by our University and we recognise the hard work put in by colleagues, particularly over the pandemic. The final offer that has been made to the trade unions to consider is a 1.5% pay increase with higher percentage uplifts to be made to the pay points below Spine Point 22, up to a maximum of 3.6%.

The offer is significantly above inflation (CPIH 1.0%, March 2021) and additionally, 53.9% of staff covered by the negotiations are also eligible for additional incremental progression pay increases. Senior leaders usually receive below inflation pay awards.

Our University takes part in ‘collective bargaining’ for your annual pay award, meaning we, along with most other universities and HE colleges ask UCEA to negotiate with the trade unions on our behalf.

UCEA have published full details on their website, including a table so you can see how the salary for your spine point will increase.

We expect to be able to implement the pay increase from August, if the trade unions have considered the offer.
