Save on outdoor clothing, travel and opportunities to boost your wellbeing

Snowdrops at Dunham Massey

The Outdoor & Cycle Concepts group stores have renewed their offer to you so that you can enjoy 15% savings at Cotswold Outdoor, Snow+Rock and Runners Need. Visit the fitness and outdoor UniDiscounts for full details.

With the interest in travel now finally back on the up, now is the time to visit the range of travel discounts with leading cottage providers and international tour operators.

UoM Sport are offering a new Zoom pass offer for fitness classes from March – May 2021. The Zoom class pass, which costs £60, will give you access to all the Be Active #ActiveAnywhere 8-week block classes from 15 March until 6 May 2021.

Current offers with the Wider Wallet discount platform include 25% off all flowers via Blossoming Gifts and savings with Joules, Sky, Graze and FitBit.

It’s Fairtrade Fortnight at our Food On Campus outlets. All our tea, coffee, hot chocolate, sugar & juices are Fairtrade! If you’re on campus why not pop by to an outlet and also say hi to the staff who have been supporting the campus during lockdown and buy a coffee and cake!

Have you spotted that in recognition of the amazing efforts being made by all staff, the University is giving staff two extra days holiday around the Easter break on Thursday, 1 April and Tuesday, 6 April 2021.

Wellbeing

Do you know that you can access a free 24/7 helpline? The service is provided by an independent external provider, Health Assured. It offers access to support from trained counsellors and advisors who are ready to listen and provide practical advice and emotional support.

Upcoming wellbeing events

On Friday, 26 February from 12:30 until 1:30pm the University book club will meet to discuss two books - Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine, by Gail Honeyman and The Thursday Murder Club, by Richard Osman. Contact Fiona.lynch@manchester.ac.uk if you would like the zoom link.

Digital wellbeing courses on Friday, 5 March - 10:30am and Wednesday, 17 March - 2pm

Our in-house Counselling Service provides regular workshops on a range of wellbeing topics for both staff and students. Upcoming workshops include mindfulness for concentration, learning how to relax and managing stress.

Photo of the week

This week’s photo is from Julia Viladoms Claverol in Faculty of Science and Engineering. It’s of the beautiful snowdrops at Dunham Massey.

With Spring is on its way we would love it if you could share your favourite images to us of the countryside, green spaces, your gardens and wildlife that you have seen during lockdown. We can then share on StaffNet and on the weekly staff benefits update! Images have to be landscape format, 300x200px and a jpg or png file. If you are unsure about resizing as long as its landscape and jpg or png we can resize. Photos can be from top of the range Nikons to a smart phone!

Keep well and stay up to date with all your benefits and wellbeing options.
