Roadmap out of COVID-19 restrictions - latest government announcement

22 Feb 2021

The Prime Minister has announced a four step roadmap

Covid roadmap announcement

You will be aware that the Prime Minister has today (22 February) announced a four step roadmap out of COVID-19 restrictions. The Minister of State for Universities, Michelle Donelan MP, has also written an open letter to students.

The roadmap confirms that students on practical or practice-based courses that require access to specialist equipment or facilities can return from 8 March. There will not be a list of courses nor any restrictions by stage of study. Additionally, there will be a formal review point in mid-April to consider whether students on other courses can return.

We are currently awaiting further detailed guidance to fully understand what this means for our students and our staff. As always, the safety and wellbeing of our students, staff and the wider local community is our primary concern. All students, postgraduate researchers and staff should continue to follow their current arrangements until notified otherwise.

We will provide further information as soon as possible.
