Can you help an education programme for refugees?

11 Jan 2021

Volunteering opportunity for colleagues here at Manchester, a University of Sanctuary

Our University is a University of Sanctuary, part of the City of Sanctuary UK initiative to ensure our nation is a welcoming place of safety for all.

We're working to make our University a welcoming and safe place for refugees and asylum seekers and also working with organisations that are developing further support for those seeking sanctuary.

Our commitment to this meets all three of our University core goals – world-class research, outstanding learning and student experience, and social responsibility.

Caritas Refugee Education – which works alongside refugees and asylum seekers to improve their wellbeing and integration through high quality language lessons, mentoring into further education and employment and wraparound wellbeing services – is looking for volunteers for its Education Project.

You can help with:

  • Lesson Support – help during online Zoom lessons;
  • Mentoring – help with college, university and job applications;
  • Tutoring – provide invaluable one-to-one language support.
