BA Media Fellowship scheme

20 Feb 2007

Improve your ability to communicate your research to the public and your colleagues

Applications are now being invited for this year's BA Media Fellowship scheme. The scheme provides a unique opportunity for scientists to see how science becomes news and take part in the process, by spending 3-8 weeks on a summer placement within a media organisation.

Come away better equipped to communicate your research and expertise to the public and your colleagues, as well as learning to work within the conditions and constraints of the media to produce accurate and well-informed pieces.

A 2006 Fellow said: "My experience as a BA Media Fellow was invaluable. I have much greater confidence in speaking to the media, and now know how to prepare a statement that will be provocative but not misleading. I also learned that I can write about 600 words in an hour if need be, which has been a great asset to my scientific writing."

Practising scientists, clinicians, social scientists and engineers are eligible to apply if they have a minimum of two years postgraduate experience and are a resident of the UK. For more details or to access the application form please visit:

The application deadline is 18 April 2007.
