Cleaning update: new display poster and how to get antiviral wipes

21 Sep 2020

New information from Estates and Facilities

The Directorate and Estates and Facilities has produced a new poster with information about cleaning touch points and has made tubs of antiviral wipes available to Faculties and Directorates, as well as a supply for individual staff.

Poster

The poster should be downloaded, printed and displayed by managers in areas which require touch point cleaning: including offices, kitchens and by photocopying machines. It provides information about the cleaning which staff and students are responsible for, which supplements the cleaning which Estates are already carrying out.

The full list of areas for staff to clean is shown on the poster. Comprehensive information about cleaning activity – and your cleaning responsibilities – is available on this risk assessment.

Antiviral wipes

Antiviral wipes will be supplied as a matter of course in all teaching areas and kitchens which are cleaned by Estates teams. However, to help maintain cleaning in areas such as photocopiers, kitchens (those which are not cleaned by Estates) and reception desks areas, a supply of large tubs of antiviral wipes (1,000 per tub) is being made available for Faculties and Departments.

Wipes can be ordered through the following stores:

Please be mindful that these tubs are large, so if ordering more than one you may need a trolley or vehicle.

Personal wipes

All staff will also be given their own personal pack of antiviral wipes for use whilst on campus, and in their individual offices and work areas, by their Faculty or Department. This is in addition to the supply of two reusable face coverings already being supplied by the University.

All wipes issued by Estates and Facilities are long-acting meaning that they will continue to kill viruses which land on cleaned surfaces.  This means that for personal workstations that are not being shared, a daily clean should be sufficient. Wipes should be disposed of in the grey general waste bins.

Reporting COVID-19 and cleaning

You must report all positive COVID-19 tests or cases of self-isolation using this procedure. If urgent COVID cleaning is required, please contact the Estates Helpdesk on x52424.

Staying safe

We all have a personal responsibility to make sure that we follow the measures which have been put in place to keep our campus COVID-secure.

Further information is available on our Return to Campus website, with additional information on our Teaching and Learning site and coronavirus FAQs.
