Car park charges to be reinstated from Thursday, 1 October

21 Sep 2020

Colleagues who do not wish to pay for parking on a monthly basis because they are mainly working from home need to take action before Monday, 5 October

University car park charges are to be reinstated from Thursday, 1 October 2020.

If you pay for car parking on a monthly basis and wish to continue doing this, you do not need to take any action and payment for car parking will be deducted from your salary from the October payroll onwards.

Plans to increase car parking charges on a monthly basis, which were announced on 11 February 2020, have been suspended. Colleagues paying on a monthly basis will be charged at the rates found here:

If you are mainly working at home and do not wish to continue to pay for car parking on a monthly basis, you need to cancel your car parking permit by emailing carparking@manchester.ac.uk by Monday, 5 October.

You can instead buy a 21-hit car park card for £53 which you can use on most University car parks, but not the Dover Street or Aquatic Centre car parks.

21-hit car parking card

Staff must choose one car park when setting up the 21-hit card.

If you currently park in the Dover Street or Aquatic Centre car park and wish to switch from full-time parking permit to a 21-hit card, you will be switched to the nearest car park.

If you cancel your monthly payment and wish to return to paying in this way in the future, you must rejoin the waiting list to obtain a full-time permit again.

All current full-time permit holders have the option to switch to a 21-hit card.
