Update on reading list materials from the Library

18 Sep 2020

The Library would like to thank staff for their support in getting teaching resources and reading lists ready for Semester 1

Library

The Library has had unprecedented demand to supply reading list items, so please bear with us during this busy time. Any items added to a list and submitted to the Library prior to the end of July have now been checked for e-availability and Reading Lists in the system are being updated to clearly show electronic provision. The Library is working hard to process all requests received from August onwards to try to ensure all reading list material can be made available as soon as possible. There is no need to contact the Reading List team as your reading list will be updated automatically. All you need to do is monitor your lists for availability.

eTextbooks via Kortext

If you have chosen to tag a ‘core’ text to be considered for our eTextbook Programme it will be supplied on the Kortext platform via your Reading List in time for the start of teaching. If this is not possible, we will supply via a standard ebook platform linked from your reading list.  If we are unable to supply electronically, you will have been contacted to suggest an alternative title. To access your eTextbook/s you and your students simply need to follow the link from Reading Lists Online, select University of Manchester from the drop down list of institutions and log in with your University username and password. The first time you log in you will also be required to create a Kortext account using your University of Manchester email address. In addition to the text itself, you will also have access to a suite of usage analytics data.

To support you in using your eTextbook for the academic year 20/21, there is plenty of help on hand from the team at Kortext including how to videos, FAQs, regular Webinars and information on accessing your analytics.

Full details can be found on the Library website.

BlackBoard

The Library is aware there have been some issues with BlackBoard for 2020/21, if your Reading List is not available in BlackBoard it is very simple to add following our quick guide. If you experience any issues, please contact your eLearning team for support.

All information about your reading lists and teaching materials can be found in our news article.
