Important update regarding TfGM electric vehicle charge points

10 Sep 2020

Ground floor electric vehicle charge points in Booth Street West car park to be upgraded

The ground floor electric vehicle charge points in Booth Street West car park will be upgraded over the next week or so.

In the short term, you will be able to access these new units using your Charge Your Car RFID Access Card or any other RFID-enabled card. The Charge Your Car app will unfortunately not be available to use with the new units.

These charge points are owned by Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM), who have taken a decision to move the GMEV network to a new operator.

Please note the University’s electric pool car is currently unavailable to hire out, due to concerns about virus transmission during the COVID19 pandemic.

How will I know if the charge point I use has been switched over to the new operator?

Once the charge points have been successfully switched over, it will be removed from the Charge Your Car map of charge points.

TfGM will also notify you directly via a newsletter. Please sign up to receive this newsletter.

How can I access these charge points in future?

You will need to sign up with the new operator to access these charge points. TfGM will provide details for how to do this in their newsletter.

What about the other electric vehicle charge points on campus?

The charge points on the second floor of Booth Street West car park and in Cecil Street car park will remain on the existing Charge Your Car network.
