Legal Advice Centre

11 Jan 2007

Now open to provide free legal advice on a wide range of matters

The University of Manchester Legal Advice Centre has now reopened and is currently taking requests for advice. Appointments will be available Mon-Fri at 12.15pm and 1.15pm from Monday 5 February through to Friday 9 March and then from Monday 16 April through to Friday 4 May.

At the discretion of the Centre Solicitor, the LAC offers free legal advice to members of the public, university staff and students on a wide range of matters in the strictest confidence. Advice is provided by student volunteers from the School of Law under the supervision of local lawyers and professionally qualified teaching staff. The advice offered is by letter, following an initial interview, and the time taken between interview and receipt of the approved advice letter will vary, depending on the complexity of the issue, but a two week period is aimed for.

If for any reason we are unable to provide advice ourselves, we will endeavour to direct you to an alternative source. Please note that we are not in a position to provide advice on any matter which relates to the University.

Can you please ensure, if you are responsible for any staff without access to email, that they are made aware of this circular?
