Payroll Giving

Yesterday was #GivingTuesdayNow – this was a global day of unity in response to Coronavirus. Usually #GivingTuesday is the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving but because of the world crisis, yesterday was an extra day for everyone to come together to show their gratitude for what so many have been doing over the past few weeks and months.  It was a day to say thank you to those who have kept us going through this challenging time, an opportunity to show our appreciation for all NHS workers, key workers, community volunteers, and charities!

This was a great day to highlight our Payroll Giving Scheme. Our scheme enables you to donate regularly or on a one off basis via your pay to support your favourite charities. A monthly gift of £10 from your take-home pay to your chosen charity will be automatically boosted to £12.50 for a 20% rate tax payer and £16.66 for a 40% rate tax payer.  This means your charity receives your donation, but also the amount that you’d normally pay in tax at no extra cost to you.  Any donations at the moment would be massively appreciated as charities are struggling due to the current crisis which has caused the cancellation of hundreds of fundraising events that could undermine their ability to support the vulnerable. The next #GivingTuesday will be Tuesday 1st December. Last year's event raised over £14.2 million in 24 hours (a world record)!

Keep safe. Keep well and keep up to date with all your benefits and wellbeing options.
