The University has increased the services available to staff who need our support

Speak Up! Stand Up! Action against bullying, harassment and discrimination

At the University, we regularly review all of our policies and procedures to make sure that they are still meeting the needs of our staff. Recently we updated our Dignity at Work and Study (DaW) Policy. We have also strengthened services that help people take informal and formal action.

Support available

It is vital that within the University we are all striving to create an environment in which bullying, harassment and discrimination are not tolerated.  This kind of unacceptable behaviour must be identified early and managed effectively.

  • Harassment Support Advisors are available to provide information and advice on the policy and we have increased the number of trained mediators available to support staff and students resolve conflict informally
  • Our ‘Speak Up Stand Up Campaign’ aims to encourages everyone to challenge negative behaviours, and take action against the causes of bullying, harassment and discrimination
  • The Speak Up! Stand Up! campaign aims to empower people to take action against harassment, hate crime and sexual violence. If anyone within our environment –  staff, student or visitors – witnesses problematic behaviour, they are encouraged to call it out and report it
