New musical group to re-create earliest documented classical music series performed in the city

Manchester Baroque, a new musical group for Manchester, is about launch with a project to re-create the 1744/5 concert series of Manchester’s “Musick” – perhaps the earliest documented classical music series performed in the city.

It will perform music by Handel, Vivaldi and Telemann, ending with Bach’s 5th Brandenburg Concerto, at St Ann’s Church in the city centre on Saturday, 9 February .

Manchester Baroque will explore the repertoire of Manchester Musick’s programmes of 1744/5 in a series of concerts through 2019 and 2020.
