12 Nov 2018

The Faculty of Science and Engineering's flagship off-campus public engagement event won Silver at the Chartered Institute of Public Relations North West PRide Awards

ScienceX CIPR

The Social Responsibility team in the Faculty of Science and Engineering won Silver at the Chartered Institute of Public Relations North West PRide Awards on 7 November. The team won for their annual public engagement event ScienceX which takes place at intu Trafford Centre.

ScienceX is a free pop-up science and engineering festival and this year it took place on 14-15 April. This family-friendly event aimed to showcase the exciting science and engineering work that we do at the University to our local communities, and in particular engage with people who wouldn’t usually attend a science festival.

This year’s event was the biggest yet – ScienceX took over the Trafford Centre with 17 fun and interactive activities which were delivered by over 150 volunteers. Visitors could ride the flight simulator, take a soil safari, experience a virtual reality and get hands-on by making futuristic materials and slime. Through the exciting programme of activities on offer, thousands of people got involved with ScienceX.

The FSE Social Responsibility team would like to thank the colleagues and students who helped to make this year’s ScienceX such a success!
