Abandoned bike sweeps on campus

25 Apr 2018

Got a bike on campus? Not used it for a while? Better check it's not been tagged

Bike sweeps on campus

To ensure that we continue to provide adequate cycle parking provision on campus, every three months a check of bike racks and bike shelters is done. This is undertaken to identify those that appear to have been left for some time unused.

Some 86 bikes have been tagged across campus and these will be removed after Monday, 14 May unless the owner comes forward using the email address on the tag.

The bikes will be kept in storage for three months before being disposed of.

To highlight the problem, there were 40 bikes in University shelters identified as abandoned – that's 40 cycle spaces that couldn’t be utilised by other users.
