Lunchtime Tuesday street market - plus this week's trader spotlight

16 Mar 2018

The popular Tuesday lunchtime market is on campus at Humanities Bridgeford Street

Mio Pizza

Levenshulme Market runs every Tuesday from 11.30am to 2.30pm. The market has rustled up lots of exciting new traders, while bringing back some of your favourites. Foodie Tuesdays are back!

This week's trader spotlight - Mio Pizza

Mio Pizza sells delicious wood-fired pizzas topped with the finest fresh ingredients and baked in just 90 seconds at 400 degrees in an authentic wood-fired oven. Served with a drizzle of garlic or chilli oil and a twist of black pepper this rustic, mouth watering pizza is the perfect lunch to grab'n'go.

Jon from Mio Pizza says: "As well as satisfying those meat lovers out there with our spicy N'duja sausage, chorizo and pepperoni loaded pizzas, we also have plenty of options for vegetarian and vegans. The Caprese with sweet roquito peppers, sun-blushed tomatoes is topped off with a drizzle of our delectable fresh homemade pesto and the Funghi is loaded with sumptuous Portobello mushrooms, fresh spinach and finished with a trickle of truffle oil.

"Accompany your pizza with a can of sparkling San Pellegrino or in the summer months, a glass of our famous homemade fresh Sicilian lemonade."

Jon adds: "We attend quite a few different markets and events and this (along with the Saturday market at Levenshulme) is by far our favourite - I tell you why - relationships!

"The market has a fantastic sense of community, from the market organisers, the stall holders and the communities that support us, we all have one thing in common - our love of good, honest fresh produce!"

If you like the sound of what's on offer from Mio Pizza or any of the other traders, come along and try some treats!

About Levenshulme Market

The chance to run regular weekly markets and a night market at our University marks further growth for Levenshulme Market, which was launched as a social enterprise in 2013 with a monthly market on the train station car park in Levenshulme. In 2014 the market started operating weekly on Saturdays and in 2015, was revealed as one of just three finalists for Best Food Market in the BBC’s Food and Farming Awards.
