Become a Wellbeing Champion!

13 Nov 2017

Develop your skills, improve your wellbeing knowledge and get first-hand experience of our Wellbeing Strategy by helping your workmates lead happy, healthy lives

Professor Cary Cooper

As part of the new Wellbeing Strategy we are looking for volunteers who can help support staff wellbeing across the University.

Our network of Wellbeing Champions will make it easier to cascade wellbeing advice and event information to all staff to create stronger wellbeing awareness.

Wellbeing Champions will be able to organise local events that link with the annual wellbeing calendar that is being developed and feedback to the Wellbeing Group so that future initiatives can be developed for the University.

In return, they will develop their skills, improve their wellbeing knowledge and get first-hand experience of our Wellbeing Strategy through meetings and events with leading thinkers on wellbeing, sharing ideas with colleagues around campus and helping their workmates lead happy, healthy lives.

Our Lead Champion for Staff Wellbeing Professor Cary Cooper, 50th Anniversary Professor of Organizational Psychology and Health at Alliance Manchester Business School, was named HR’s most influential thinker by HR Magazine in 2015 and is President of the CIPD, the British Academy of Management and the Institute of Welfare as well as outgoing President of RELATE.

“Health and wellbeing is a really important aspect of the University – for staff, students and everyone connected to us,” he says.

“Enhanced wellbeing in the workplace has three, incremental benefits for the individual and the organisation: (1) you don’t get ill; (2) you are more productive; and (3) you get more out of your job.

“As a Wellbeing Champion, you would be an essential part of that here on campus.”
