An opportunity to join the Schools and Colleges Liaison Team (SCLT)

01 Nov 2017

The Student Recruitment and Widening Participation team are looking for colleagues to join the Schools and Colleges Liaison Team, a collection of academic and PSS staff who support the delivery of recruitment-focussed outreach work in schools and colleges

The aim of this work is to support the University's provision of information, advice and guidance to young people and their teachers and to promote The University of Manchester as a study destination. More members of staff are required than ever before to help with this work and during the 2016/17 academic year we attended over 300 events both locally and nationally.

Schools and Colleges Liaison Team members can choose to support this work in two main ways:

  • By attending Higher Education Conventions which are held in key centres of population across the UK and are aimed at Year 12 students who are thinking about university study and making enquiries.
  • By delivering presentations and workshops in schools and colleges on general topics to do with Higher Education such as choosing a university course and HE admissions processes.

As well as being a lot of fun, being part of SCLT brings personal and professional development opportunities, such as developing presentation and interpersonal skills, gaining knowledge and understanding of key recruitment issues and helping the University fulfil its obligations to the wider community.

Attend an SCLT Informal Information Session

If you would like to know more, please come along for an informal discussion at an information sessions which will be held over lunchtime on Tuesday, 14 November from 1pm until 2 pm in University Place, Room 4.209

To find out more or to join the Team, please email Katie Muscat or Louise Rowbotham.
