Receive your carbon literacy certificate

Last week, the University was named the first Carbon Literate university in the world as the 10,000 Actions programme is an accredited carbon literacy programme

10,000 Actions

This means that all staff members who have taken part in 10,000 Actions can receive their own carbon literacy certificate after completing a questionnaire to demonstrate your knowledge of sustainability. To apply for one, visit:

Over 8,000 actions have been pledged so far as part of 10,000 Actions, the biggest environmental sustainability project in higher education. It takes around an hour to complete the programme and you do not have to do it all in one go as the system saves your progress. To add your actions, visit:

For every completed action plan, £1 will be donated towards planting Heroes Wood in Gorton, a World War One centenary woodland to commemorate the involvement of Mancunians in the First World War.
